Momma

Warm blankets of memories to keep me still

I buoy between dream and wake

Here we are

I remember

Momma’s love, her hair’s softness

shhh…

In silence I remember all the times she held me when I threw tantrums

The times the house smelled like banana bread

The way her hair felt in my chubby toddler hands

The way her makeup smelled when she kissed my cheek

I felt her melody, her multitude of song

Is this the only love I keep? Warm, peacefully still
